Nye Banfield

Saturday 22nd December 2018

7:00pm - 12:00am

Nye Banfield is an aspiring jazz saxophonist, composer and bandleader
based in South East London and studying at Trinity Laban. His biggest
influences are Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Kendrick Lamar and Ambrose
Akinmusire and he combines aspects of each of their music in his own
writing and improvising to create a distinctive and contemporary sound.
Nye recorded, produced, mixed and self released his debut EP entitled ‘All
Change’ on the 19th October 2018, and it combines traditional jazz
teachings with more current grooves and harmonies to create an exciting
sound which, when played live is “gripping and intense”. The record
consists of 5 of Nye's original compositions featuring Dylan Jones of Ezra
Collective on trumpet, Ewan Moore on drums, Michael Shrimpling on
double bass and Tom Morley on piano.

As well as releasing music under his own name, Nye has also recorded
with up and coming singer Tara Lily (see music links), featuring on a
song alongside trumpeter Dylan Jones, drummer Femi Koleoso and
produced by Jammer of BBK. He has also worked with hiphop group 'nine8

Currently in his fourth year at Trinity Laban, Nye has studied under many
well respected musicians including Mark Lockheart, Jean Toussaint, Simon
Purcell and Tom Challenger.

Nye has picked up a wealth of performance experience since living in
London. Appearing on multiple occasions at The Jazz Cafe, Ronnie
Scott's, the Piano Bar in Soho; and has also held weekly residencies at The
Verge in Shoreditch, the Yacht in Greenwich, and currently performs at

You can request to be seated in Dizzy (raked theatre), Duke (side wall), Monk or Bird (bar) or Billie (front of stage) and we will do our best to allocate you to your favourite seats on a first come, first served basis. Each of these seats is at a table or bar where you can order food and drink with table service.

Standing tickets are for the bar area behind the seated auditorium. We politely ask that you stand within this area so as not to obscure the view of the seated audience.

Advance ticket sales finish at 18:30 on the day of the concert. We often agree a split of ticket takings in the artist's favour, and so we are inclined to add a premium to tickets purchased on the door to encourage them to come back and perform for us again!
